"In the late afternoon sun, the quail covey feels less threatened from predators and feed together in the thick vegetation. Today a patient Coopers Hawk has been decidedly awaiting his opportunity to strike. The alarmed group breaks into flight, exploding into a beautiful arch as they attempt their escape. I wanted to capture the exact moment of alarm and explore indisputable paradox between the beauty and harshness of nature." John Banovich
