This project was envisioned to create a carefully curated collection of art elements for a visual journey presented in multiple mediums to pay homage to the diverse habitat and ecologically rich area of Montana. Bringing nature to life in art is a key element in this collection. With defined art spaces, art elements were created to interact as a unified collection throughout primary interior and exterior home spaces.

I began with a desire to pay homage to a diverse habitat and ecologically rich area. With a palette of fall colors to capture the juxtaposition of the bold autumn foliage accented by the delicacy of the individual leaves I began a truly monumental journey.
“I start with developing a compelling composition, where your emotional strength as an artist must reside.”
Aspen I & II were created as a pair for a private commission, in both scenes the perspective of the paintings depict aspen groves from an eye-level point of view and lead the eye up as if the viewer is walking into and through a grove of aspens. The style is a loose impressionistic with an impasto technique, creating thick texture and a three-dimensional appearance. Visible brushstrokes create highlights and shadows and visual space.

The painting pays homage to the diverse habitat and ecologically rich area of Big Springs Ranch. The palette of fall colors captures the juxtaposition of the bold autumn foliage accented by the delicacy of the individual leaves of the magnificent aspens forests on the ranch. Snow-capped mountains in the far distance provide the backdrop to the scene. Hidden in the scars of the aspens are the silhouette depictions of the Jones family members in their favorite activities and pursuits.
"Autumn Canopy" Concept and design by John Banovich, Hand-Blown & Hand Formed Glass with 24K gold leaves and glass branches by Brent Rogers
Suspended from the dining ceiling, the sculpture creates the appearance of a rich aspen canopy, seemingly spread across the sky to the forest below and interacting with the painting beside. Guests will be immersed in the canopy’s warm glow and immersed in the experience of capturing the wild of the outdoors inside. Concept designed by John Banovich.
Elk I & II, Hand carved wood panels, design by John Banovich, carving by Dave Ganley
The design revolves around the rivalry between two bull elk facing off in the fall rutting season allowing the viewer to witness a challenge between two magnificent bull elk. From the outside the viewer will feel as if they are peering over the shoulder of one of the bulls to the other bull then through the aspen forest to see the foothills towards the plains beyond Lewistown. On the inside panel the drama is portrayed looking towards the peaks of the Big Snowy Mountains in the background. Concept sketch and design to be created by John Banovich
